My Girls

These are some random pictures that I wanted to post. I think I have the cutest
girls around, so I had to share them with everyone.
I love it when the girls play together.
Ashlyn loves to be in Megan's room.
We have designated the corner that Megan is
in as "the reading corner". She loves it.

I love those big blue eyes.
Megan really enjoyed the snow this year.
She couldn't wait to go outside every day.

I called my pink michelen man.
Big pink coat and big pink snow pants.
So cute!

Boy Was I Wrong

I thought I had one more year to worry about Ashlyn getting into the Christmas tree because she isn't crawling. Boy was I wrong. I forgot she scoots around on her bum.

Special Day With Dad

On Saturday, Brian and Megan went with Brandon and Kenny to the mountains to get a tree. It has been a tradition for our families to go cut a tree down for the last couple of years. This year we decided that the dads would take Megan and Kenny. Megan was so excited to spend the day with her dad.
Megan and Kenny ready to go
There wasn't a whole lot of snow, as you can tell.
Probably made it easier for the kids to get around.
Our tree. Brian did an awesome job picking one this year
It wasn't too far off the road.
Megan and Kenny on the way home. Brian
said they made it to about Horseshoe Bend and then
fell fast asleep.

Ouch!

My poor little Ashlyn has finally cut a tooth. We found it on Sunday and she has been miserable ever since. Her nose is running constantly and she can't breathe. Part of me wonders if it's a cold and a tooth. I think I got about 4 hours of sleep last night. She made noises all through the night because she couldn't breath. I feel so bad for her. She is such a happy baby that it's a little weird to have her so cranky. I think I was lucky with Megan and her teething. I hardly knew when she had a tooth coming in. The only way I knew that she was getting a tooth was because she chewed her tongue nonstop. We'll have to see if she'll let me get a picture in a little while. Right now she shuts her mouth tight every time I try to stick my finger in. She hates the baby orajel.

2 in 1

We had a great Thanksgiving this year and really enjoyed spending time with family. We had my family's at 12:00 and Brian's family at 4:00. Even though there were 2 in one day, it was basically stress free. And for that I was very grateful.
This is my family at my parents house. We only
had 8 adults and my two girls. Pretty low key
but very good food. Especially that Costco
pumpkin pie. Thanks mom!

Gramma Jello and Megan being silly with
cool whip. Megan had a plate with just cool whip
for her dessert. She loves the stuff.
Megan helping Tammy out with
pies she was taking to Tom's house.

These last two pictures are Brian's family. We had a total of 23 people. Kind of crazy, but everyone loves to come visit during Thanksgiving. The Montgomerys stayed with us and Megan and Porter thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Each night when we put them to bed we had to threaten that one would have to sleep in the van if they kept talking. I think we ended up going in about 5 times each night. Crazy kids. They need to learn how to whisper so they don't get in trouble next time. I would have taken pictures of them but they were running everywhere.

Chuck E Cheese

On Friday we went with Brandon, Stef and Kenny to Chuck E Cheese. We wanted to get together and do something where the kids could run around and not be pent up in the house. And boy did Megan run around. I could hardly keep track of her. She had so much fun. It was actually the first time she had been there. Ashlyn was so good. I think she enjoyed all the activity going on.
Megan and Chuck E Cheese - she wouldn't
get very close because he kept moving.
She wasn't in to the games much. She just
wanted to ride everything.

Ashlyn

I seem to post quite a few pictures of Megan and not many of Ashlyn. I think it's probably because Megan is the one that can get up and move around and be a funny little 3 year old. Ashlyn makes me smile everyday. It is so fun to see her personality develop more and more each day. She is such a happy baby and we are definitely blessed to have her in our family.

She cracks me up when she sits and plays with toys. She is always falling backwards because she can't keep her legs still. She is always moving them. She hits herself in the head at the beginning of this video and then makes a face like it was one of us that hit her. So funny.

She has finally figured out the whole bouncing thing in the exersaucer. She is so funny when she really gets going. She loves it.

Turkey Trot

On Saturday we were a part of a Turkey Trot for the Idaho Food Bank. Anyone with old cars, and even some that didn't have old cars, were able to help donate to the food bank. Each car went to 5 different KFC's and picked a card to make a hand of poker. At the end, they gave a prize to the winner. The entry fee for all of this was a turkey, $15.00 or food. All of it went to the food bank and the food bank was the last stop. We were at one of the KFC's with the cards for people to choose from. It was a long day but we had a good time.
Megan and Brian waiting. I'm not
quite sure what she is pointing at.
This was the group at the end at the food bank.
It was awesome to see the turnout we had.
I think they counted about 75 cars.

Book Club

Last night I hosted book club at my house. We had a good time discussing the book I had chosen which was Tuesdays with Morrie. Morrie sure had some good insite on life. I think I will go back through my book and highlight some of the quotes he made. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. We also ate some good food. Amy asked me to post the recipe for the dip that was with the crackers. So here it is. Enjoy!

1 cup sour cream
1/4 tsp garlic salt
1 cup monterey jack cheese - grated
1 cup cheddar cheese - grated
1 4oz can of diced green chilies

Mix all ingredients together. Goes well with crackers or chips.

Pre-Thanksgiving

On Sunday we got together with the Warthen side of the family and celebrated Thanksgiving a little early. We usually don't get together with the cousins because we all have our own families, so it was really nice to be together. Thanks to Tammy for organizing the whole thing. And sorry to all of the families in Utah, Washington and Arizona - you missed some really good food!
Mom and Dad - doesn't she look incredible!
It was the first time dressed and hair and makeup
done since the surgery.
Silly Grandpa Ralph!
He decided to try on Tom's Halloween wig.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! We had a really great time this year with Megan. She really got into Halloween and enjoyed the trick or treating. This year we went with our neighbors around our street and then they invited us to go to their church for some games for the kids. Megan loves Elizabeth, Natalie and Trent. We'll have to make it a tradition to go trick or treating with them every year.

Pumpkins and Powertools

On Tuesday we carved the pumpkins that we picked from Grandma D's garden. Megan thought the insides were gross but still had a good time. This is the first year we have carved pumpkins with Megan and I think we will have to definitely make it a tradition.

Aren't they so cute!
Megan trying to help scoop the innards out.

Brian did a good job of carving. But we were trying to do circles on one of the pumpkins and our knives weren't working to well. So what does Brian bring out, the power tools. Our pumpkin carving experience wouldn't have been complete without power tools. Megan didn't like the noise, so we only used it on one of the pumpkins.

Here is the after picture. Megan was the one that came up with the angry face.

Now that's a big dog!

For our preschool fieldtrip yesterday we went and saw some Irish Wolf Hounds. Holy Cow! Those are some huge dogs. I don't think you really understand how big they are until you see them in person. We had a great time and really enjoyed the dogs.

This is Bubba. He was the best of them all.
He could have cared less that we were there.
Megan and Beni really liked the dogs.
Ashlyn never made a peep while we were there.
Probably because it was so cold.
You can see by this picture that the dogs are
as tall as the kids. If they stand totally upright
they can measure up to 8 feet.

I'm afraid someday we may have to get a dog. Megan really seems to like them.

A Cruise with the T's

On Saturday we took the mustang and went for a cruise with the Model T club. We went to Idaho City and had lunch at Trudy's. Several months ago, Trudy's caught on fire and damaged most of the restaurant. It was good to see it rebuilt and busy as always. She makes the best food. We had a great time.
A nice shot of some of the cars that came along.
The lady in the pink is Trudy.
She is the nicest lady you will ever meet.

Daddy and Ashlyn
The scenery on the way up was incredible.
This photo is great but doesn't do it justice.
I love all the different colors in the mountains
at this time of year.

Bzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!

On Friday Megan told me she found a spider on her trampoline and that she needed the fly swatter. I really didn't think she would be able to kill it, but I gave her the swatter anyway. A few minutes later she walks in with this. It was actually a bee. He was smashed pretty good and apparently she's not afraid of bees.

Happy Birthday To Me!

My birthday was Sunday the 19th so we celebrated with Brian's family on Friday. Good food and good company. Ham and scallopped potatoes. Yum!

Megan doesn't even like olives,
she just likes to play with them.
My sister stopped by on Sunday with this cake from her and my parents. When I got it, it had a piece missing from the middle, so I just thought I would continue. It seems like the piece missing from the middle is becoming a tradition in my family. I think it must taste the best.
My funny family!
Thanks for a great birthday everyone!

Free at Last!

10-16-08
It has been a long road, but Ryan is finally free. My brother made some choices in his life that took him down a road that wasn't so good. He has been on probation for a couple of years and has had some driving restrictions as well. He has totally turned his life around and Thursday was the last day of everything. He is off probation and all his restrictions for driving are gone. I am so proud that he made the decision to change the direction his life was going.

We went over to his house on Thursday and celebrated. Congrats Ryan, we are so proud of you!
I thought this pictured was kind of funny because he kind of looks stoned.

This is Megan playing the guitar with Ryan. She loves guitars and loves to play ZZ Top on them. (I'll have to explain that on another post)

The Pledge of Allegience...kind of

10-16-08
At preschool, Megan has learned the Pledge of Allegience. She basically has the whole thing memorized, but usually she needs me to say it with her. I let her try to do it on her own. She did pretty good, but missed a little. For some reason she thought she needed to yell it.

Tian's first playdate

10-16-08
Rebecca, Trey, Tian, Angie, Beni and Beck all came over for a playdate on Thursday. This was Tian's first playdate with the group since he was born. Megan is all about babies so of course she had to hold him. Megan, Trey and Beni had a great time and of course us mothers enjoyed being able to gab. No pictures of Ashlyn, she slept through the whole thing.
Cheesy grin!

Pumpkin Picking

10-12-08
Grandma D had quite a few pumpkins in her garden this year, so we decided we would go pick some to carve for Halloween. Megan had a good time choosing just the right one.

Hmm...which one should I choose?
A little heavy, but she got it.
